Introduction to Personal Finance

What is personal finance?

"Presonal Finance" refers to any and all aspects of a person's life that relate to money, like: saving, spending, budgeting, insurance, credit, taxes, retirement, mortgages, and debt. Although the topic of "investing" technically falls under the umbrella of "personal finance", the field of investing (i.e. stock, bonds, etc) covers a specialized subject matter and is usually separated from "personal finance". For example, if you go to a bookstore, the "Investing" section and the "Personal Finance" will both be in the "Business" section, but they will be separate from each other. The same separation can be seen on financial web sites.
